This is is Mr. T. He’s here to remind you to be good to people you work with or else he’s coming for you…
Do you know someone who is a total asshat at work? You know the type. I’ve known and worked with many who fit the bill as I’m sure you’ve crossed paths with as well. They come in all shapes and sizes and seem to be magnets to the Music Industry. Sometimes these folks are just completely unaware of how they treat others and often it’s this unawareness that does them and everyone around them a disservice. Mr. T says “I pity the fool”. This type of disconnection can result in a ripple effect of despondency, increased sick days and high turnover (and increased costs to the business), disloyalty and other unproductive behaviors. So in order to build awareness, I put together this list:
Top 3 Reasons To Stop Being A Jerk At Work
- MORE CONNECTED: Kindness can sustain true teamwork. Beyond the paycheck, most people are motivated to work for something (and someone) meaningful to them. People work harder when they feel kindness from others and feel a part of something bigger.
- TRUST AND SAFETY: Lack of respect and trust towards others is the #1 reason people quit their jobs. Not money. If you’re acting like a jerk at work, the folks around you might write you off. You may find yourself without people you can count on when it matters most.
- HAPPIER: People who feel a deeper connection to their own self-worth outside of money, status and title are happier. And everyone wants to be happier! (i.e. If someone’s self-worth and value wasn’t connected to their job, and they lost their job tomorrow- hey, it’s happened to me- they’d still come out on top.) So stop picking on everyone else and focus on making them that perfect cup of coffee you keep bragging about
There it is! I wanted to keep it short and sweet (just like me!). I’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!!! If you can think of any reasons to add, please comment below.
